System requirements

  1. Installed Java software wit version 6 or higher. You can download it from here.
  2. Access to local network or/and the internet, with at least 256 [kb/s] speed.
  3. Application use around 35 [Mb] of memory, and you need to have it free in yours operating system.

Application launching

After you will download file  EasyFile.zip please unzip it.
Application can be started like below:
  1. You can simply run file start.bat.
  2. In Windows explorator you can click two times on EasyFile.jar file.
  3. Start application from command line with: java -jar EasyFile.jar (look at screen on left side).
In other operating systems the second way should work  (if Java was properly installed).

First time

After first start eFile will display window with language selection, and then configuration window (look ant next row). Choose your language from list, and then press OK.

Configuration - server settings

The purpose of first tab in configuration window is to configure yours server settings. Other persons will connect with it. Below you  can find a fields description:
  1. Name - the server name, any string that will identify yours computer. 
  2. Port number - TCP/IP port, which  is used for client-server connection. In most cases you should keep a default value here.
  3. Password - password for the server, should be hard to guess it.

Configuration - shared directories

Here you can choose directories which you wish to share for other users. You can find all shared directories on list. If you with to change, or delete them, you should select desired catalog on list. Use button Delete for remove it. You can edit selected catalog, inside frame Edit directory.

Remember, if you wish to save changes in shared directory you should use button Apply.  If you select option Write access, then  persons which are connecting with you will be able to change files in that directory.


Main window

It contains menu, list of defined remote connections, and action buttons:
  • Menu - it is on top of the window, and gives access to configuration window.
  • Connection list - it contains defined connections with other computers.
  • Action buttons - buttons New, Edit, Delete helps to manage yours connections.

How to setup a connection?

  • In computer that you wish connect to (remote server), eFile application must be turn on. 
  • You should know password, and network address (IP) for remote server.Second can be easily found in About eFile window (you can open it from menu).

  • In main window use button New, and window with remote source definition will open.
  • Fulfill proper values in fields: Host name or IP, Password.
  • Field Name will be automatically fetched from remote server.
  • Field Port number - you should not change value inside it, except when in remote server the value is different then default.
  • Press the button Test connection and eFile will try to connect with defined server. After test will finish, on information panel you will find a note with result.
  • Press button OK and you will save the changes.

Files sending

When connection is defined,  choose it from list in main window, and then press Connect button. If connection is successfully created, then window with remote files will be showed.

On the panel at left side you can find yours local files, and at right side, the files from remote server. At the top of the panels you can find buttons for actual disc choosing. At the middle of the window you can find the list of files and directories, and at the bottom, the action buttons.


How to copy a file - mark files choose for copy (left mouse button on file list), and then use button Copy. After copy will be started, the window with progress information will be displayed.
